Chinatown & Lower East Side, NYC

New York City provides many opportunities for interesting shots, from the streets, the signs, the markets, the building details. Here are a few shots from last week's trek to Chinatown and the lower east side.

Scenes at street level:

Street signs can be interesting also ------------- >>>>

Look up slightly and the buildings yield details that often go unnoticed.  For example, if you like clocks, have you seen the frieze with a nude and a lion next to the large clock with roman numerals?  This one is on the Bowery Savings Bank building in Chinatown.

or how about a clock with a strange numbering plan, right next to a statue of Lenin at the Red Square Building? in the lower east side?

Some buildings have flags on them,
even if they are pirate flags!

Or rooftop gardens (same building as the pirate flag ... hmmm)

Sometimes, it is the
building itself that is of interest...  this is the blue condo building in the lower east side, called (surprisingly!) the "Blue Condo"

And some buildings have blue escape routes!
